Julie Cohn creates work that balances contrasts—rough and refined, primitive and modern—stripped down to their essential form. Trained in painting and printmaking, she explored bookbinding and box-making before expanding into textiles, rugs, hardware, tabletop, and public art.
A self-taught jeweler, Julie approaches design through direct interaction with materials rather than sketches, drawing inspiration from nature, indigenous crafts, and old-world techniques. Her jewelry invites layering and personal expression, blending unexpected elements with elegant simplicity.
Based in Dallas, her studio doubles as a creative collective where she mentors young artists, guiding them through the realities of handmade production and the business of art. Julie lives with her husband, landscape architect David Rolston, and their daughter Mila near White Rock Lake. Her jewelry collection debuted in 2011.
